Manchester Tech Festival has announced that Lord Mayor of the City of Manchester, Councillor Yasmine Dar. will be opening it’s first Women in Tech [Unfiltered] conference on the 8th of March, International Women’s Day.

Held at the historic Friend’s Meeting House, Women in Tech [Unfiltered] will welcome over 300 delegates from the tech industry, including women currently working in tech, those looking to move into a tech career, as well as male allies and mentors.

Amy Newton, Founder of Manchester Tech Festival commented:

“It is an honour that the Lord Mayor of the City of Manchester, Councillor Yasmine Dar. Will be opening our inaugural Women in Tech [Unfiltered} conference.

Through a number of inspirational talks and workshops, our aim is to shift to the conversations currently happening in tech, to represent the full intersectionality of women in the industry. We hope that by delving into topics with a raw, authentic and brutally honest approach that we can begin to shift the dial towards actionable change, not only encouraging more women into tech, but into leadership positions.

We are humbled, grateful and incredibly proud to have our work in this space recognised and we cannot wait to see a much-needed shift in attitudes and behaviours”.

Sponsors of the event include MoneySuperMarket Group, Venturi, Roke, Indiespring, Oakwell Hampton, Naimuri, Zally, Pragmatic Partners, Equal Experts, Code Computerlove, IDPP and DiSH MCR, all companies committed to ensuring the tech industry continues to work towards true inclusivity.

Alice Spreckley, Managing Director of Naimuri (Women in Tech [Unfiltered] Patron) commented:

“Naimuri is delighted to become a technology patron for the first Women in Tech [Unfiltered] event. We know Manchester has one of the biggest technology communities in Europe, so as a collective we have a strong voice. However, more needs to be done to support females into or back into tech, champion the amazing diversity of talent and explore subjects which can sometimes be off limits.

We are confident this event will create an open, honest, platform for attendees (of all genders) to feel equal and explore a great range of topics, whilst building new and lasting alliances. We look forward to supporting and attending”.

Priced at £36 per ticket, Women in Tech [Unfiltered] will see over 16 speakers take to the stage as well as panel discussions and workshops exploring topics such as the “Pet to Threat phenomenon” and “Leading While Menopausal”.
